Houston’s Best & Brightest Companies Enrich Workers, Communities

Houston’s leading companies showed why they are successful – and how they got that way by treating employees and their communities right. Winners in Houston’s 2015 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For awards took center stage April 20 at the JW Marriott in a networking and awards presentation luncheon.

Top honors went to ABIS Inc. as Best of the Best Small Business, and GAAP Financial Services as the grand prize winner – Best of the Best Overall.

Let’s look at ABIS Inc. Employee engagement is vastly important to this company. They have a monthly team building exercise called “First Friday Familiarity.” The company begins First Friday Familiarity by sharing a meal. Every department then shares information regarding every aspect of the business. This is followed by a team exercise such as everyone going to the park for a scavenger hunt. They end the day with a happy hour and social time to understand each other better and build bonds.
